Since the week of its premiere on Lifetime, Vivica Fox’s reality male stripper competition – ‘Black Magic’ – has been engrossed in controversy.

As if the hooplah around its subject matter alone didn’t ruffle enough feathers, the actress’s stinging declination to gays when asked if the show’s performer would perform “for them as well” landed her in hot water.  In fact, not only did she experience an unfortunate dragging on Twitter, but the show’s producer – Jean Claude Lamarre – condemned her comments and immediately distanced himself from her.  The ruckus encouraged her to lend an official apology via Instagram:

Interestingly, despite all the drama that’s been pit against the show since the week of it’s arrival, its ratings are still hanging tough.  See what we mean inside:

Vivica A. Fox hit the promo trail hard this week in support of her ‘Magic Mike’-inspired reality show which launched on Lifetime this week.

Titled ‘Black Magic,’ the series sees Fox put her name and reputation on the line to audition and create an all-male urban exotic dance group with hopes of getting a Las Vegas residency.  Chronicling the mens’ voyage from the rehearsal hall to the stage, the show has already courted a bit of controversy thanks to some off-putting comments by Fox regarding its target audience (read more on that here).

As that subsides, if you’re curious to see how many people tuned in to catch the muscle bound hunks on January 4th at 10/9c, tuck in below:

As if the Lifetime-lent Aaliyah biopic that aired Saturday night didn’t ruffle enough feathers by itself, producer Wendy Williams’ response to the backlash didn’t exactly help.

Taking to her top-rated talk show this morning to scoff at naysayers who slammed the film’s casting and overall production, Williams was quoted saying:

“Everybody’s got an opinion.  Whether you loved or hated it, you watched [because] it was the second highest rated movie on all of cable this year so far.”

At the time Wendy made the statements, no receipts had surfaced to substantiate her claim.  This has since changed.  Tuck in below to see how the movie not only a win for Wendy, but for Lifetime as well as it dominated television, but Nielsen Twitter ratings as well:

Shortly after delivering a June 24 ratings winner for Lifetime courtesy of her official biopic, ‘Keyshia Cole: This Is My Story,’ the songstress is looking for a similar response aboard Billboard charts with the new song ‘Forever Is a Thing.’

Produced by S1 and Sir Tim, the touching tune serves as a tribute to her late mother Frankie Lons and sees Cole reflect on the lingering pain of the loss.

“Shoulda known the day would come when you would go away / But I was too wrapped up in your love to ever know, how would I know?” she sings on tune’s heart-tugging chorus. “You were ready to leave / Am I just a fool / To ever think forever is a thing.”

And while it’s not immediately clear if the song will be included on Keyshia’s forthcoming “final album,” what is for sure is that it awaits inside for your listening pleasure.
