Amazing grace/ How Sweet The Sales That Saved A Stan Like Me“.

In this world, there are two kinds of fan bases. One being the kind that support their favorite acts with their mouths and not their money and the second being the kind to do both.

Nicki Minaj‘s ‘Barbz‘ would fall under the latter.  Indeed, as a result of the buzz surrounding her new LP ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded‘, her debut album ‘Pink Friday‘ has enjoyed a sales boost.

To be exact, despite receiving little to none physical promo in the country, it has reached platinum status.

Due greatly in part to the passing of pop icon Whitney Houston, this week’s 54th Annual Grammy Awards drew in its second largest audience ever.  In such, stars slated to perform, namely Adele, Katy Perry, Chris Brown, and Nicki Minaj, have seen the showing give them considerable boosts in their own individual endeavors.  Adele, the long running Billboard champion, saw her triumphant stage return encourage album sales of 500k in the week following the show and now reports indicate her songs ‘Rolling In the Deep’, ‘Set Fire To the Rain’, and ‘Someone Like You’ are on track to sell 250k, 220k, and 170k downloads respectively.

Also, following reports of Houston’s untimely passing, the pop starlet moved over 1 million singles and albums in less than 5 days and landed her signature hit ‘I Will Always Love You’ back in the top 10. Next week will see the full download sales realized and are expected to land in the 250,000 to 300,000 range of this song alone.

Unlike Adele and Houston, Minaj, Perry, and Brown all unveiled new music this week to spearhead promotions of their forthcoming ventures.  Perry, who has already clocked 5 #1s from her ‘Teenage Dream’ album, is readying its follow-up, ‘Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection” (March 26th), and may be on the road to notching her 6th!  While fans were disheartened with news, due to new Billboard ruling, that number 1s from the re-released set won’t be included in her ‘Dream’ tally, it certainly hasn’t stopped their support…

VH1 has completed its quest to crown ‘the ultimate diva’ (based on fan votes) by unveiling its list of the 100 greatest women of music history.  The survey comes as their second – the first saw acts Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner take the number 1 and 2 spots respectively while acts like Madonna and Billie Holiday filled out the top 10.

With 6 categories – “All Time”, “90s”, “80s”, “Pop”, “Rock”, and “Hip Hop/R&B” – VH1 has introduced a more comprehensive compilation of divas to include, unlike their original survey, more contemporary performers (i.e. Rihanna, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, etc) and base it on achievements in the past 20 years.  Sure to get tongues wagging, the list’s first 20 are set for a televised unveil on tonight’s premiere episode of the five night countdown at 10pm Eastern.

If this list is the best they could do, VH1 may have done better unveiling this on April 1st.  Find out where your fave fell via the full list below:

‘Stupid Hoe’ hitmaker Nicki Minaj is revving up for Roman Reloaded – her long awaited, April-set sophomore effort led by buzz singles ‘Hoe’ and ‘Roman In Moscow’.  As 2012 has seen her expanding her already lengthy collabo portfolio (Madonna, David Guetta, etc), the rapstress has promised a set of surprises to precede ‘Reloaded‘s release.

As fans await such ‘surprises’, Paper Magazine gifted an unexpected treat moments before Madonna’s show-stopping Superbowl Halftime show (which Nicki nabbed a brief cameo in).  Not due to hit stands until February 20th, the Harajuku Barbie was unmasked as the mag’s Spring Fashion Issue covergirl – donning fashions similar to that of her interesting Wonderland magazine photos.

Keep it locked to That Grape Juice as more photos and behind the scenes action from the shoot are unveiled!

Your thoughts?

As 2012 sees the Superbowl at its inaugural Indianapolis-hosting, it boasts another first as well – the inclusion of powerhouse vocalist Kelly Clarkson and Queen of Pop Madonna.  While Madge is manning the highly anticipated halftime show, the ‘Breakaway’ beauty got the game kicked off moments ago with a stirring rendition of the U.S. National Anthem.

The 2-time Grammy winner is currently rocking at #2 on singles chart with her smash ‘Stronger’, but did she rock the ‘Star Spangled Banner’?

For many, Madonna‘s Super Bowl showing tonight is a “must-see”, as it’s the first time in years that a bonafide megastar has taken to the stage of all stages.

Indeed, recent years have seen the likes of the Black Eyed Peas bestowed the honour of headlining the ratings juggernaut. However, few acts – if any – have eclipsed the aura of “must-see” that was Janet Jackson‘s 2004 headline grabbing performance.

Sadly marred by the now infamous ‘wardrobe malfunction’, the Queen of Pop staged a stellar spectacle, which boasted killer choreography, special effects, and sass aplenty – all of which reaffirmed her Pop royal status.

Can the Material Girl one-up her long-time rival? The answer awaits in a matter of hours. Pending then, peep Ms. Jackson in action.
