New Shakira LP To Hit Stores in September

Following the massive success of her 2010 FIFA World Cup theme song, ‘Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)’, Shakira has been encouraged to return to the studio. The twisting temptress’ next album is currently set for a September release and will reflect a return to her Colombian roots. See what she had to say to Billboard below:

Speaking to Billboard at her Johannesburg hotel, Shakira said the as-yet-unnamed bilingual album, due September, is a return to her roots. “I see it [the new album] as having two currents,” she says. “One is a lot about love and love experiences and emotions. And the other side of it is very joyful, and upbeat.”

Shakira also revealed that the music on her upcoming set would reflect influences from both the Dominican Republic and Colombia. “It’s a little more Latin on one side and a little more rock ‘n roll on the other side,” Shakira says. The singer plays the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury June 26 before returning to South Africa to perform “Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)” with Freshlyground at the World Cup’s closing ceremony July 11.

Recording new music is always a fun experience, I’m sure, but one can’t help but think her label is eager to have her churn out a hit after “She Wolf” failed to make much of an impact.

I’m sure her label sees her as the Latin equivalent to Beyonce, Britney, or Pink, so they will definitely want her next project to be a banger.

Didn’t she just have an album out last year. Call her out like you do Rihanna Trent. And no I am not a Rihanna fan in fact I don’t even like her but be fair Trent.

  5. BENJAMIN June 18, 2010

That is great, she kinda thrusted herself into the pop realm with her last album and it didn’t fair well, so maybe she should stick to her roots.

  6. Keith June 18, 2010

It’s even climbing the charts in the USA. Besides selling more than a bunch of your faves, she has more talent in her pinky finger than just about all of your faves. You h*** can stay pressed because Shaki isn’t going anywhere. She has a huge fan base around the world.

  14. JT June 18, 2010

A hit in other countries ain’t gonna help her in America. It’s time for the goat to be put out to pasture.

  15. BEYONCE VS. WORLD June 18, 2010

HIPS THAT’S ALL OF THINK OF WHEN I SEE HER BUT I LOVED SHE WOLF

  16. Ghetto Fab June 18, 2010

    @ JT

Nobody gives a flying f***! Shakira was a huge star in Latin America and Europe before she was in America anyway. She doesn’t need America. B**** is paid and has sold over 50 million records. You Americans kill me with this if you aren’t hot in America you ain’t hot at all s***. Get over yourselves! There is tons of other countries over there. Shakira has been, still is, and will remain one of the biggest Latin Pop stars ever. All the rest is just gibber jabber you uneducated negroes are talking. Shakira remains unbothered lol

Shakira is an amazing woman, not only is she very beautiful she donates a lot of money to charity and raises awareness for them. Her voice is unique but i like it and most of her songs are amazing.
“She wolf” was a good album but after the “she wolf” single her promotion with singles etc went crazy like nobody knew what they were doing.
I’m glad she’s back in the studio and hopefully some more latin style music will be the result.

@Trent it was announced that she was working on a new album months ago so spend less time on pointless XTina hate and get your facts straight, BYE.

  20. True Blue June 19, 2010

At least Shakira can hold a tune, unfortunately I can’t say the same for Ri-Ri 😉

Anyway, I wish Shakira would go back to the music she made before she crossed over the American market and became another blonde pop star. She was more authentic then. This pop stuff she’s making is mostly garbage.

  21. stan June 19, 2010

    @CAMEROONGIRL

you think her label didn’t sort it out? don’t be stupid.
