Do you say that because it has more of an R&B slant to it this time around? I heard the album and I must say that I’m not in love with it either, but I thought it was better than TTT. It’s half and half. Get it over with it stands out! … I like Numb, Jump and Paradise too. Rih will definitely have to pick the right singles this era.

You clearly do not understand what I’m trying to say. Aaliyah was not an RnB queen like people make her out to be. She was a product of her producers, much like Rihanna. She didn’t write her songs, she couldn’t sing either, she whispered her way through most of her songs. Even Rihanna has more range than she had. The only thing she had on Rihanna was her dancing and that’s it! She didn’t even have a #1 hit before she passed away!
BTW, Aaliyah did not invent the baggy clothes look.
TLC did that way before her.

I don’t understand why everyone says the album sucks. Over half the CD was good with the exception of 5 songs. I was not here for Fresh out the Runway, Pour it up, the tracks with David Guetta, Chris Brown, or Future.
This is her best album after RR in terms of substance and subject matter but “Loud” had consistently good tracks though.

I can honestly say I liked most of the songs. I felt like she served us RR part ll.
The balads “spoke” to me lol. Her voice sounded better as well. You can tell she’s been seeing that vocal coach.
I felt like the album had a clear cohesive consistency which is something that TTT lacked. The tone of the album just meshes well.
Love without tragedy/Mother Mary, and What Now blew me away.

TTT was a mess, but this album was a disappointment for me. The ballads were good, but all that “hood” stuff she was going on “phresh off the runway”, “pour it up”, “nobody’s business” etc was turning me off. I didn’t feel like this was RR part 2, because I loved that album right away and this one is just……”off”…..I agree about Love without tragedy, what now, and also no love lost.

Now I’m no Rihanna fan, but this album is not that bad.
If you like 2 Chainz and Maybach music then this album is right up your street.
Rihanna has experimented with her sound and vocals, which shows growth. The negative points are that the album does sound rushed, and you can tell some of the songs are album fillers.
Like with every Rihanna album, half way though it looses momentum, and Rihanna’s voice becomes annoying, but other than that I have to give credit wear credit’s due and to be fair this is the first album of Riri’s that I am considering spending money on.

Stay (One of the best songs Rihanna has ever done)
Numb (Good production and Eminem is a crazy muthafucker)

The grind of sleepless nights and wake-up calls is wearying for the two hundred non-performers on board, and yet – at least over the past three nights, a punishing trek spanning four cities – Rihanna has been getting better with age. Where “Fresh Off the Runway” felt like an uphill climb the first two times through, in Stockholm she sings it looking over her shoulder, a breezy afterthought. In Mexico City, she had been robotic and stiff. Now she moves her body as if molded by a Cinemax producer: no pretense, no inhibition, like she’s in on the joke. She flirts at every angle, she licks every inch of her lips. Rihanna, at her best, is a tease.

This experience also makes one realize how deep Rihanna’s back-catalog is that she hasn’t performed “Rude Boy” at any point; no “Hard,” “California King Bed,” or even “Russian Roulette,” with “SOS” and “Pon De Replay” collecting dust in her Wiki attic. She only pulled out last year’s “Love The Way You Lie” when Toronto fans demanded it (after she offered the opportunity to hear either that or a new song off Unapologetic). Different tracks earworm their way into the brain every day: “Diamonds” is practically used as punctuation among some of the riders. There are many who deserve credit for Rihanna’s success, though none more than her A&R.

As long as the 777 Tour has been in existence, Rihanna’s diehard fans (her #Navy) have speculated on who would join her in certain cities. In Toronto, the obvious thought was Drake – a British YouTuber onboard with us Tweeted about it, with certainty. (Drake was out of town, so . . . no.) Last night, Chris Brown’s name made the rounds, though there was more merit to the idea that Kanye would appear: people took photographs of him in the Stockholm airport, and Def Jam publicity sent us his remix to Rihanna’s “Diamonds” while we were all at the show. But then “Run This Town” played, and stage right stayed empty. Same for “All of the Lights,” and all hope disappeared once “Diamonds” played without Kanye’s extension. It’s probably for the best; as SPIN’s Julieanne Escobedo Shepherd noted, guest stars are a cheap trick used too often these days. (Or whatever: Chris Brown’s tour supposedly crosses with Rihanna’s upcoming show in Berlin.)

While many went to bed, Rihanna stayed out until six in the morning, slinging drinks for her after-party guests from behind the bar. Some ticket-winning fans made it in and found Rihanna to be sweet: “I told her my life story,” said one. (She also shared with Rih’s manager a growing frustration among the fans riding with the 777 Tour, that they feel unappreciated and underwhelmed by the experience.) Sweden’s pushiest came to rub shoulders and throw elbows, a good-looking but horrible-acting group of malcontents. Apparently, as I learned from a local girl I met, alcohol in Sweden is incredibly expensive so everyone goes full-throttle-drinking on Friday nights. Last night was Friday night. It was either being fed up by aggressive patrons, or the fact that the rare Stockholm sun was coming up, that led Rihanna to throw her bartending towel down. Apparently Rihanna took the chorus of her new single “Diamonds” to heart — her latest promotional gambit for her album “Unapologetic” is the shiniest, booziest thing in the friendly skies this week.
The Barbados-born singer has chartered a private jet to schlep around 250 comrades, contest winners and media folks for seven stops on her “777″ world tour of small clubs that includes stops in Mexico City, London and elsewhere.

Though this just sounds like a dreary, Dickensian hell, the passengers are doing their best to fight through the pulverizing boredom of being plied with Armand de Brignac champagne, tequila shots and Courvoisier in the company of one of the world’s most famous and beautiful pop stars while jetting to exotic locales.
Early details confirm that 1) Rihanna is actually on the plane and partying with the guests, 2) This is all ostensibly in service of a documentary film, 3) The band is working out kinks, and 4) We are almost incapacitated with jealousy that we weren’t invited.

Folks can say what they want but this 777 Tour scheme was a perfect idea. To create this type of buzz around your CD then drop it worldwide is a brilliant plan. I can’t even lie! Some of these folks with these large budgets better also consider something similar.
I’m not a Lady Gaga fan but I am curious to see what type of promo will be put in place forthe sell of her next release?

PARIS — As Rihanna’s 777 Tour enters its fifth day, participants are starting to wonder whether the Internet and its denizens have had enough of us, and whether anyone still cares to hear about the final days of this crazy idea made real.
Last night in Paris, where Rih played a truncated set in the tiny Le Trianon theater, the ridiculousness of this whole endeavor what with the waiting for hours on the tarmac, airborne hijinks and afterparties filled with rap royalty was thrown into stark relief against the obvious fact of why we’re all here, and why we should keep sharing this experience. Quite simply, Rihanna is an incredibly engaging performer, capable of becoming more and more likable with repeated viewing.

Paris Crowd Goes Wild For Rihanna
The energy in Paris was unlike any of the previous shows, partly because of the tiny room, but also because the relationship between the star and her fans in France is clearly more developed and intimate than it has seemed in the countries we visited before. She seems to know some of them by name, shouting out the recipient of the special “R”-emblazoned phone, by name, and suggesting that everyone follow him on Twitter, for example. The crowd was well-dressed and well-behaved, drinking champagne before the show, but screamed louder and were more engaged than any crowd before them when Rihanna took the stage.

Le Trianon had a strict 10:30 p.m. curfew, so her usual set had to be cut down significantly. Gone was “Presh Out the Runway” and the entire acoustic section of the set. Luckily, though, new tracks like “Diamonds” and “Stay” remained.

And with Unapologetic being released Monday, it only seems right that Rihanna’s newer work would get more play. “Diamonds” is already a global hit, and it’s proven to be one of those songs that sticks in your head. But the real album standout, for this writer at least, so far has been “Stay.” Arguably Rihanna’s first real power ballad, the song is undeniably emotional and allows her to stretch herself both vocally and as a performer. The nuance and tenderness she embodies in her performances of the track makes those moments unlike any other in her set. This was apparent when she played the song on “SNL,” and it has remained true every time she’s played it on the 777 Tour.

Despite it being a song about sadness, darkness and the weak moments we all face, “Stay” finds Rihanna’s vocal strong and self-assured. It also proves that she can transcend the club and make more than radio-friendly party anthems, as well as signaling to both critics and fans that even seven albums in, she’s still an artist capable of surprises.

Despite some technical issues Rihanna was visibly displeased with something in her in-ear monitor and even walked offstage for a moment, returning only to literally push away a technician who came out to help her the show was her best yet. Clearly, a lot rides on the crowd and the artist’s relationship with them. And as she declared, referring to her Parisian fans, “You guys are the best.”
Following the show, it probably should have been off to bed for all of us, but when in Paris, how can you resist the afterparty? We got to unwind at the star-packed fete and are now off to Berlin, our second-to-last stop in Europe before closing out in NYC
