According to reports, Netflix was previously considering a show about the ’90s girl group. The documentary would have explored their meteoric rise, global influence, and tumultuous split.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain, Mel B was asked about the project. “Well, I don’t think anything is happening,” she shared. “I think something was, but I don’t think it’s actually gonna be happening now after all. Which is a shame.”
When co-host Susanna Reid asked why things had come to a halt, Mel B hinted at behind-the-scenes drama. “I’ll tell you in the dressing room,” she replied.
Fans quickly flocked to the comment section. “I don’t want a Netflix doc, we want one thing and that’s them live!” one wrote.
Another added: “Not even being on board for a documentary is CRAZY. Come on, Geri and Victoria. Think of the fans.”
It remains unclear which project Mel was actually referring to.
The Sun recently reported that a drama series was in the works from Netflix to mark the band’s 30th anniversary. The show was allegedly shelved due to tensions between the members.
The streamer was supposedly hoping to bring all five members together. Ultimately, that reunion appears unlikely.
