It appears Rihanna’s label are pulling out all the stops for the release of her ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ re-issue – she’s everywhere right now. This morning the singer performed on the Today Show’s Concert Series in New York City’s Rockefeller Plaza. Her set featured current single ‘Take A Bow’ (above), ‘Don’t Stop The Music’ and ‘Umbrella’ (below).
As I’m sure most of you know by now her live performances do little for me, these included. Though I’m sure the inevitable ‘hater’ tag will be levelled, it’s hard to ignore the fact (IMO) that she sounded as if she were singing through her nose for the whole set. Not a good look. Still,her label she must be convincing people she’s worth their hard earned cash, as ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ is on course to shift between 45,000 – 50,000 units first week; which is definitely an achievement for an album that is over a year old and wasn’t very good to begin with.

For all those asking ‘why post on her then?’…I am evidently not a fan of Rihanna, yet a portion of the site’s readers obviously are. Though I have my OPINIONS on artists etc, posting only what I like (which IMO is closed-minded) isn’t how I intend on running That Grape Juice.
In general, I’d advise those who seem to believe Rihanna is the second coming of Jesus Christ himself – so much so as to resort to personal attacks, to check out the ‘Disclaimer’ section to your right.
Most importantly, however, I’d like to express my sincerest thanks to the ‘SamIsA’s and co that so kindly attempted to put me, personally, as well as the site on blast. The extra hits you give this supposedly “dying” blog (whose visitor numbers have trebled since the start of the year)are much appreciated. I guess the age old saying, ‘You know you’ve made it when people start hating’ is showing itself to be true.
I kinda wanted to hold my tongue with this one, yet I feel some of the persistent hater’s need to take careful note:

As a fan of both Rihanna and Beyonce, I must say that Rih doesn’t hold a candle to Bey in singing, performing, or albums solds. Rih may have her on style (currently) and that is it. Rih’s voice is flat and only does well because of hot beats/catchy hooks. I have bought all 5 of both ladies’ albums so I am not a hater, I actually enjoyed GGGB. I’m simply speaking the truth.
Bey and Rih are two different types of singers. Rih is more pop, Bey is more R&B and sings with more soul. I really don’t think the two should be compared and I agree with another commenter that Rih is comparable to Cassie, Brittney, or even Ashanti (even though I think Ashanti’s vocals have improved tremendously). Bey is the ultimate performer because of her ability to sing and dance, Rih just does not have those qualities.

My opinion on the performances: They werent that bad, in fact i was jammin along with the crowd. I like the way she did ‘Don’t Stop The Music’ & ‘Umbrealla’. I reall y dnt care for ‘Take a Bow’, but that performance was okay.

The ONLY reason why Good Girl Gone Bad sold more than the first two albums was because she tried to switch it up and act like a “rockstar” wannabe, not to mention she had people like Justin, Timbaland, The Dream, and Ne-Yo writing all of her damn songs.
