Chart Check: Rihanna’s ‘What Now’ Makes Top 20 Return / Kid Ink Spends 18th Week In Top Ten

Has the success of Beyonce‘s latest studio offering gone some way to overshadow Rihanna?

Hmmm…well that all depends on who you ask. For, while fans of the ‘Single Ladies’ siren would cite the 3 million units already moved by ‘Beyonce’ as confirmation of this, UK music lovers have gone some way to prove Rihanna’s popularity in the nation is far from over, even if it does pale in comparison to the ‘Queen B’s.

How?

Details below…

After taking ‘Drunk in Love‘ to #3 on the chart, the British public purchased enough copies of Rihanna’s ‘What Now’ to push it #13 on the R&B Singles Top 30, returning to the Top 20 after spending last week at #26!

Eight spots above sits Kid Ink‘s Robin.S-fuelled ‘Show Me‘, now spending its its 18th week in the chart’s Top Ten, despite slipping 3 spots from #7.

Now certified Gold in the US for sales of over 500,000 units, ‘Show’ enjoys a UK peak position of #23 and #19 in his domestic market, achieved before the January 17th release of his sophomore set ‘My Own Lane’ which peaked at #3 on the Billboard 200!

  6. LDN Chick February 3, 2014

Its because of an advert for ITV dramas gets played every commercial break on ITV with that song in the background.

  7. CIKING February 3, 2014

Although I’m loving CRTFU video. The song remains in the garbage can! I guess that’s why its tumbling down itunes kiiiiii

  8. LDN Chick February 3, 2014

Well done Beyonce, that song has absolutley no push here and is doing great. Urban songs like that don’t chart that high here. Can you come to the Brits and do XO please.

  9. beyugly February 3, 2014

Lmaooo CI-ERROR stans are always the first to call someone a flop.B*tch just dragged ha own damn self

  10. Lovebird February 3, 2014

    @LDn Chick

What about Tall Dirty? That hit #1 in the UK.

  11. S****** Blonde February 3, 2014

Rihanna is a Goddess, nobody can outshine her.

  12. Lovebird February 3, 2014

    *talk dirty

  13. Super Cisus February 3, 2014

Where’s “Can Remember To Forget This Song” on the charts???

  14. LDN Chick February 3, 2014

Talk Dirty is pop as s***.

  15. Lovebird February 3, 2014

    Talk Dirty is urban.

  16. LDN Chick February 3, 2014

Drunk in Love has a hard hip hop beat. Thats why I said ‘like that’. Reading comprehension is key.

  17. CIKING February 3, 2014

Can’t Remember To Purchase You KIIII

  18. LDN Chick February 3, 2014

And Talk Dirty is way more pop than Drunk. Its pop as s***. Jason Derulo is so annoying!

  19. Lovebird February 3, 2014

I did and you didn’t say anything about hip hop beat, you said urban song, talk dirty is an urban song.

You just added the hip hop bit now.

  20. Bey Fan February 3, 2014

I wonder made it jump up the charts. Did she perform somewhere?

    Congrats….

Ciara fans are funny. So yall calling singles flops, huh? Really? LMAO.

  21. LDN Chick February 3, 2014

@Lovebird I said Urban song ‘like that’.

  22. Lovebird February 3, 2014

Jason Derulo is annoying and yet his music performs better in the UK than it does in the states.

    You should insecure to me.

  23. Lovebird February 3, 2014

Urban song like what, you didn’t jump into specifics, you were very vague. Talk dirty still applies.

  24. Lovebird February 3, 2014

    *sound

  25. LDN Chick February 3, 2014

Why do I need to be specific? My comment wasn’t addressed to anyone. Sorry you jumped on my c*** for simply stating facts but my comment still stands to reason.

  26. Lovebird February 3, 2014

I simply challenged your comment with a fact.

You said urban songs don’t do well in the UK (and didn’t jump into specifics), I brought up another urban song talk dirty and your defense was to attack the artist of that urban song.

  27. LO February 3, 2014

    Body Part

UK Singles (Official Charts Company) 174

Yet Carlos fans call What Now a flop which peaked at #25 and which will probably go Silver (200 000 copies)? The jokes writing themselves.

  28. LDN Chick February 3, 2014

@Lovebird, Urban songs like Drunk In Love don’t do well in the UK though.

  29. LDN Chick February 3, 2014

I gave you specifics of what I meant with the hop hop beat when you decided to address me, my original comment was not addressed to anyone so I didn’t feel the need to be specific. But when you addressed me, I explained so I’m failing to see what point you are trying to make now.

  30. LDN Chick February 3, 2014

    Hip hop

  31. iconic cici February 3, 2014

what now is such a FLOP

  32. CIKING February 3, 2014

LO. For someone of Rih’s level it should of charted higher. Did you not buy I Can’t Remember To Purchase You???? KIIIIII

  33. h2o February 3, 2014

    A top20 is still a top20.

Hasn’t Muhammed Ali Klay been struggling for one since “Love, S**, Muscles” back in 2009?

  34. MC!!! February 3, 2014

rihanna aint even promote that single fully and it still slaying!

LOL LOL BEYONCE ALBUM 2.56 SOLD WW AS OF JAN 31ST 2014 . BRUNO mars beat her SB

  37. FutureCIARA February 3, 2014

^^^ These children clearly don’t know the definition of promotion then!

  38. Rihboy February 3, 2014

she performed that song in her tour…..the fact its top 20 from an album late 2012…lets see if any of beys or ciaras will still be in the top 20 a year and some from now. So quick to call her a flop when her singles or featured collabs actully chart and chart well. Drunk in love is doing well because its being promoted. It got grammy and pre super bowl treatment. Had she neglected it like Rih neglected what now it wouldnt have went anywhere. c squad has a nerve. Pregnancy and a new flop single about your newborn couldnt save ciara. One Bey already did that. Two she is just a natural flop. I dont understand why she is allowed to be a liability to her label.

  39. h2o February 3, 2014

    @ Sybil

Too bad Sony Music said 3M since 2 and a half weeks ago.

And congrats Bruno, many others can’t even book a performance let alone bring these numbers ..

  40. KING B February 3, 2014

Beyonce is killing it in the UK tho DIL #9 BEYONCE PLATINIUM and the album didn’t move out of the top 5 in both the us and the uk since it release

  41. miley rayy February 3, 2014

this ‘Rih keeps winning’ troll is so stupid lol, like we all know B will outsell UntreatedHerpes if it hasnt already so why keep trying? smh
and death@ you using Bruno cuz you know dam well RihAPE can never and will never do Sb

  42. KING B February 3, 2014

But bruno’s ratings are lower than last year so what the F is you talking about???????

  43. Suxmycockiness =o February 3, 2014

How can a single that came out in 2012 chart in the top 20 in 2014 be called a flop? I understand some of you hate Rihanna but please don’t be delusional. Congrats Robyn, What Now is one of my favorites from the album.

  44. h2o February 3, 2014

Wait, so that’s not even true.

Unlike what Sybil did before posting that comment, I’m now reading the full A.TRL thread title report and the only actual thing Bruno has beat Bey for is for the lowest SB ratings of the 2010s!

But you know Sybil is more than used to “The winner is Rrroarrrrryalllllssss” – sized clocks and self-drags so …..

  45. Yah February 3, 2014

It’s probably because ‘what now’ has recently been used in quite a long B** advert, either B**, ITV or CH4 – whatever it was, but I saw it yesterday.

It’s one of my fav’s from her and I’m not a particularly big Rihanna follower

  46. beyugly February 3, 2014

Rihiconna did not promote Right now, what now or PUI.She payed them dust!! @CI-ERROR stans, what did body parts and 477547887 live performances do for ciara’s flop album?

  47. caribbean native February 3, 2014
