The video for Rihanna’s 2nd single ‘Shut Up & Drive’ premiered yesterday on Yahoo’s Launch. It’s ok, but my expectations were higher after hearing her label Def Jam shelved out $600,000 for the vid. Nonetheless, Rihanna looks great and the vid illustrates the theme of the song well. I am left wondering whether this will do anything to re-ignite her album sales, as many assumed. According to Hits Daily Double, ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ takes a -52% dip in it’s second week, with the album dropping to #7 on the Billboard 200 Album chart.

it doesnt really look like a $600,000 video, nothing special to me. i cant see this being a hit in the states, its so british.
The video is ok and it does fit the song. But the song itself does not fit Rihanna at all!! I think it would be better for Avril or Pink.
The video is okay. I just wished it had a dance routine in it some where. But other than that it was okay.

i kind of agree with some of the comments! it doesn’t look like a cheap video but it doesn’t look like $600, 000 either! i like it though! still not sold on the song, but her this girl is doing her thing! got the perfect mix to me: body like beyonce, check; face like cassie, check; moves like ciara, check; different sound, check; different style, check! this girl is not going to fade out anytime soon! she just needs to pick a different single next time!
The video was decent…nothing to WOW over..she looks GREAT non the less. I think its a good single choice for the MYV viewers and the POP lovers…nothing for BET tho.

it’s a good song and all but the video does nothing for me. $600,000 man please. of course BET and urban radio stations won’t play it but pop stations, VH1 and mtv go tear it up. prolly won’t do good over here (states)

Rihanna touched a lot of genres with this song. The MTV crowd will love it. I can see it getting plenty of play on Pop radio and video stations, car commercials, gyms and cheerleader routines. Thats where the money is at, Rihanna is definantly going to be banking with this album. I’m sure she doesn’t really care what the BET crowd thinks. the “BET” crowd didn’t help her last 2 albums, now its time to switch it up.

I’ve listened to the cd..and there seems to be 2 different sounds to her music…personally i like more of the urban hip/hop tropical sounds she makes and she needs to stick with it…i’ve pretty much lost all interest in her at all including her appearance…she does have some better songs on her cd she should of put out
Ummm… to the person that said she’s from the Caribbean so she knows how to dance trust that she is not on our level. She is far 2 stiff, aint nobody man, woman or child from the association i.e. the W.I. massive w/ riddim wud dance like that. Personally if she didnt have the accent she wouldnt be so huge and I wouldnt know she was from B’dos, the wabean she is. She’s far too non-energetic compared to the regional artistes so I’m not enthused she’s typical lookin many girls look like her. Looks aint everything but it takes more than a hairstyle and clothes to mpact on me. I’ll stick with my reggae,soca, etc. music (hip hop, r&b, etc.)is boring and redundant these days anyway. If she did do ballet she should show it and not disguise it by wearin ‘pum pum’ shorts.
