Audiences will get to see ‘Wonder Woman 1984,’ starring Gal Gadot, on Christmas Day after all.
After speculation surrounded the release of the movie, and it already being postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, Warner Brothers announced that it will debut on HBO Max and in movie theaters on December 25.
More details below…
Elsewhere in the world, where HBO Max is not available, ‘Wonder Woman’ will be heading to cinemas one week earlier on December 16.
In a statement Ann Sarnoff, chair and CEO of WarnerMedia Studios and Networks Group, said:
“This is an amazing film that really comes to life on the big screen and, working with our partners in the exhibition community, we will provide that option to consumers in the U.S. where theaters are open. We realize that a lot of consumers can’t go back to the movies due to the pandemic, so we also want to give them the option to see ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ via our HBO Max platform.”
‘Wonder Woman 1984’ will be available for one month on HBO Max in the U.S.
The original ‘Wonder Woman’ grossed a whopping $821.8 million at the global box office. $412.6 million, of which came from the United States and Canada.
The move is not a surprising one, given the fact that the pandemic is still going on and companies must adapt to the circumstances at hand.
We will be tuning into the sequel, how about you?
