LaTocha Scott gives praise to the Almighty with her debut Gospel single ‘Stay With Me.’
Renowned for taking vocal flight as a member of the iconic R&B group Xscape, the singer is flying out on her own with the track – which serves as the first fruit of her freshly inked deal with Motown Gospel.
The release arrives ahead of the debut of ‘SWV & Xscape: The Queens of R&B.’ (which premieres on Bravo on March 5).

Nice song but dare I say that it seems a little packaged and inauthentic. From the cross earrings to the feeling that I get from , say, a Jonathan McReynolds song. I just don’t FEEL it when she sings. Although she sung it beautifully, something is missing. I need to hear more. Rooting for her

This is exactly what I came here to say, but in other words. She should have just sang this for her husband. It’s more believable as an R&B song. Beautiful vocals nonetheless.
Wow, LaTocha has a hit on her hands. She listened to the man upstairs and stepped out on faith. You are where you’re supposed to be, singing Gospel music.

Most modern Gospel no longer has it’s “Blues” elements and has become more R&B anyways, which is why so many R&B acts can so easily transition.
A lot of R&B artists have attempted gospel but easily transitioned is a stretch. Artists like Aretha and Whitney were able to easily transition because of the anointing they possessed. I hear Fantasia is working on a gospel album. She’ll transition easily as well. The Gospel industry is small but NOT easy to break into.
Aretha & Whitney did NOT transition. Both Women grew up singing Gospel music before secular music. They are both innovators when it comes to R&B/Pop ballads.
They were not Gospel recording artists. They grew up singing Gospel in the church like many R&B singers have in the past. Their careers began singing Jazz/R&B/Soul/Pop and they recorded Gospel SUCCESSFULLY after the fact.
I see a lot of negative comments say what u want ok but let’s be clear that woman can sang sing blow I don’t care if she sings gospel solo in a group hell understand water she is favored by the most high

Ok. Um. Ok, the voice was nice but I was looking for more then words like the little girl from college park and less stay with me. She said stay with me so many times that when I thought is was going to get good the song ended. Truthfully, the back ground singers were goooooood.

She has a beautiful voice hands down, however knowing how to sound good & singing gospel is two different things. Until she’s sincere in her intentions she can’t go mich further. God wants her to open up & admit her shortcomings to him. She’s not even honest with herself. I wish her nothing but the best
