Just weeks after the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced Missy Elliott, George Michael, Cyndi Lauper, and Willie Nelson were among its high-profile nominees poised for induction this year (as we reported here), the National R&B Hall of Fame has unveiled its official list of 2023 hopeful inductees.
Despite boasting a whopping tally of 60 names on the ballot for fan voting, only six to eight will be inducted into the museum’s hallowed hall.
Among those already garnering buzz for their prospective entry are groundbreaking divas Mary J. Blige, Janet Jackson, Anita Baker, Xscape, Aaliyah, and SWV.

BULL S***…..Toni Braxton is not on the list,
Where is my Toni Michelle living legend Braxton. Omg. Her voice is everything she still has it and she is beautiful!!!! I love her. I also love her sisters and her sister traci tra Rae. Come on. Where is Toni??? This is my cool !!!!
First of all, SO MANY of these nominees should have been inducted AGES ago!!!! Let me go vote…
Right
Why did Boyz11men or Troop get nominate for R&B hall of Fame. Boyz11men be out since 19990 and Troop since 94. They are 2 of the best singing group exactly Boyz11men.
Anita Baker
Yes, All day!! Should have been nominated long time ago!!!
I’m sure FLEAonce is going to sleep/pay her way in to get inducted. But the R*B Hall of Fame nobody really cares about anyway.
Yep, she pays. Her way into everything.
I’m surprised JAYZ & John legend got a nomination and not USHER. Anyway, I voted for the one that stole/bought 1,000 awards.
I NOMINATE STEPHANIE MILLS!
Yes 💯
I NOMINATE STEPHANIE MILLS!
Jay-Z? How? Why? They have about as much integrity as that Rolling Stone greatest singers list.
So you have my favorite Empress of Music Janet Jackson!!! You have her as singer which she is but she is more then just that she is also is a Producer/writer 🎼🎵🎶
Right
There are so many missing from this list R&B
Jeffrey Osborne, Stephanie Mills, Chanté Moore even Keith Sweat!! Come on people
Jay Z!!! Where is Mariah Carey? Where is Usher? Where is TLC, Toni Braxton, Monica, Brandy and Tamia?
You have Xscape so then where is Envogue? Where is Blackstreet, Jagged Edge, 112, and Dru Hill? This list isn’t right. No Teddy Riley, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis or Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins? Where is Maxwell, D’Angelo, Ginuwine, Carl Thomas and Brian McKnight? Wow….
Blue Magic is one of the most popular groups if the 70’s, 80’s. R& B Classic Soul has been overlooked in the world of music awards, and honors for years. Though groups like Blue Magic continue to tour and perform in concert around the world, they are often ignored. Fans, however, continue to demand and support their live performances. Blue Magic is quite worthy of a R&B Hall of Fame honor! Thank you for your esteemed nomination!!💙
What about The Whisper..
My stepdad Reggie Andrews should be included as a recipient. He was a Jazz Legend. He taught Patrice Rushen, Nydugu Chancellor, Tyrese and Kamasi Washington to name a few.
He also wrote most of the music for ” The Dazz Band”, “Let it Whip” was the biggest single. Reggie Andrews passed in July and he has never had his due.
Sincerely,
Vernice L. Gilliam
Well Janet Jackson a Must , Definitely deserves her Spot
Where is Freddie Jackson. How can there be R & B b without Freddie
I nominate Freddie Jackson for sure.
