Normani shook the internet to its core this week with the colossal launch of her ‘Motivation’music video.
A fireball from start to finish, the visual has racked up over 12 million views in less than two days and has attracted praise from the likes of Cardi B, Missy Elliott, and Ciara.
As the New Orleans native soaked up the love, she’s spoke with The Face about her solo charge since the hiatus of Fifth Harmony, having the support of her idols such as Janet Jackson and Kelly Rowland, Ariana Grande being like family.
The ‘Hot Girl Summer’ igniter has been scorching the music landscape with her fiery bars and bops, as well as her fun-filled personality.
Now, as she eyes major success with the ‘Hot Girl Summer’ song, the Houston college student is opening up about what folk can expect from video for the Nicki Minaj assisted jam. During the chat with E!, she also dished on her upcoming collaboration with Lizzo, and much more.
Britney Spears has unleashed many a bop during her time and this week’s From The Vault salutes one of her most seismic – ‘Stronger.’
The 2000 effort was the third single from Spears’ hit sophomore album ‘Oops!… I Did It Again,’ it was produced by the ever-potent Pop maestro Max Martin and remains a fan and critic favorite almost 20 years after its release.
On the track, the songstress sings about not needing anybody and doing things her way.
After the album’s second single, ‘Lucky’, didn’t match the success of the LP’s title track, ‘Stronger’ returned the Pop royal to the Top 20 in the US, peaking at #11. Internationally, it performed very well, charting at #7 in the UK, #4 in Germany and #13 in Australia.
The tune’s cinematic music video was directed by Joseph Khan and presented Britney in a darker light. Many believe this was the arrival of the sassier Brit, who would captivate the masses a few months later with the iconic ‘Slave 4 U.’
A huge hit, the visual was nominated for a VMA for Best Pop Video in 2001.
While the song’s lyrics could be compared to the material on Janet Jackson’s breakthrough album ‘Control’ – particularly the title track – its music video took an obvious leaf out of Ms Jackson’s discography. Indeed, Brit’s solo dancing was very reminiscent of Jan’s classic ‘Pleasure Principle’ choreography.
*********
It’s so refreshing watching pre-2007 Britney in action. The hunger she possessed and the charisma she exuded were inspiring to say the least and always made for an exceptional Pop moment whenever she would be in front of a camera.
At this point, we’re not even hoping for a return to form, but rather a rebranding.
She’s not the girl she was at her peak, which is ok. But it doesn’t mean there aren’t other areas she can explore artistically. Areas and avenues that could prove equally as compelling in the contemporary climate.
With that being said, we can’t wait to observe her next move.

Award-winning CNN news anchor Don Lemon has spent over two decades reporting on controversial headlines and now, thanks to a sexual harassment lawsuit, he has become one.
As has been widely reported, Dustin Hice – a bartender from the Hamptons – alleges he approached the television personality to buy him a drink. After Lemon, who is engaged to longtime partner Tim Malone, declined the advance he (according to Hice) later approached the bartender in a shocking exchange. An exchange, Hice asserts, that saw the 53-year-old “put his hand down the front of his own shorts, vigorously rubbed his genitalia, remove his hand and shoved his index and middle fingers in the Plaintiff’s moustache and under Plaintiff’s nose.”
Yikes! With the story making its rounds, CNN’s clapping back on behalf of their anchor. More inside:
Just a year ago DJ Paul – one half of the notorious Three Six Mafia – took to our friends at Complex to confirm Juicy J had no interest in reuniting the group and was more interested in continuing his successful solo career.
Well, that was then.
For, the Memphis Rap legends have sent their fans into a frenzy with news that they are not only joining forces again, but they’re embarking on a tour to commemorate the occasion.
Despite its ongoing success, Lil Nas X‘s debut single, ‘Old Town Road,’ has garnered its fair share of foes.
First enduring discrimination from Billboard regarding its genre classification, the song would later get hate from Taylor Swift fans (affectionately called #Swifties) for blocking every single released from her August 23rd due album, ‘Lover,’ from debuting at #1 on the Hot 100. Later, Mariah Carey fans (affectionately called #Lambs) made their disapproval of the cut well known after it broke her 23-year-old record for longest run at #1 in the tally’s history.
Ahead of the Hot 100’s refreshing on Monday (August 19) – which will reveal if the Trap star will clock a whopping 20 consecutive weeks at the chart’s summit – it appeared he’d gained a new enemy in the form of Country star Blake Shelton.
March 27, 2020 marks the U.S. premiere of the once highly anticipated live action remake of Disney’s classic animated feature film, ‘Mulan.’
Seven months ahead of the flick’s release, however, there’s been an international call for boycott thanks to some controversial political support thrown from the direction of Liu Yifei – the Chinese-American actress cast as the production’s leading lady.
Thanks to newly emerged details and continued conversation on social media outlets from celebrities, fans, spectators, and insiders, Jay-Z‘s recently announced partnership with the NFL continues to prove itself a hot topic (click here to read).
The controversy around the business move is not only centered around the league’s problematic relationship with its players of color, but also Jay’s own public statements damning the organization – even declining an invite to perform at the Super Bowl. Shortly after the news initially broke, Grammy award-winning songwriter/producer Bryan Michael Cox – credited with some of the biggest R&B hits of the last 20 years (Mariah Carey, Usher, Mary J. Blige, etc.) – added fuel to the fire when he revealed his longtime friend and fellow Urban hitmaker Jermaine Dupri was offered a deal similar to Hov’s.
The issue? Cox says Jay personally contacted JD and told him to decline the very deal (to co-produce the Super Bowl) he’s now signed. Ouch!
Hot girl summer just got even hotter thanks to Megan Thee Stallion and City Girls‘ star Yung Miami blessing fans with the joint effort, ‘Pastor.’
The Murda Beatz-produced cut is one of a whopping 36 found aboard Atlanta imprint Quality Control’s latest compilation album, ‘Control The Streets Volume 2.’ Calling on Migos star Quavo to rap the hook, Stallion leads the race with the first verse:
“I just landed, I ain’t pack a bag, I ain’t plan shit / Sent him all my info and I told him, ‘Get it handled’ / Crazy, couldn’t contain the p*ssy, now he hate me / Hard on them hoes, but for me, he’s a baby.”
Of course, Miami brings it home like only she can. Curious to hear what the trio cooked up? Listen inside:
