It seems as though what Meghan Trainor is really all about is clocking #1s.

For, after pop superstar Beyonce passed on the female empowerment song ‘All About That Bass,’ Trainor took the tune to the top of the Hot 100 for 8 consecutive weeks.  Now, fans looking for the Massachusetts-bred songbird’s album on charts shouldn’t look anywhere but up as she’s currently perched atop the Billboard 200 with her debut ‘Title.’

Besting initial reports of 220,000 first week sales by nearly 20,000, the burgeoning diva saw her first title on the tally zoom to #1 on the wings of 238,000 units sold.  This, just days before word had it country pop princess Taylor Swift saw her blockbuster ‘1989’ album edge past the 4 million mark.

If you were wondering when was the last time an album shifted 4 million copies in the U.S. you shouldn’t be surprised to know that it was when Swift did it herself a year ago with ‘Red.’

    • Lobe January 24, 2015

      @I STAND FOR TALENT

I agree. You may want to add Lorde to this list.

  3. CT January 23, 2015

I dont think she will last five years.. I could be wrong im not hating tho…

    • Danny Bey January 24, 2015

  4. Mark111 January 23, 2015

That call me maybe girl never sold like this. Big up to Taylor Swift Blade. 4 times plat? Now that’s epic. That’s how you do it, kill BOTH charts.

    • Big ups January 23, 2015

It’s too bad none of your fav’s can do that 😉

      • Brian310 January 24, 2015

They are to busy getting ww figures instead of concentrating on 1 market

      • Sass January 24, 2015

‘Forgotten is subjective’ So are 90% of Rihanna singles and eras.

      • Special Delivery January 24, 2015

Ikr. Rihanna can barely stay at #1 after one week after 6 tries on the album chart. Let alone go multiplatinum. Kii.

      • Mark111 January 24, 2015

Ya right, Rihanna and Aaliyah would never make a wack song like 7/11. Even Ciara have higher standard than that trash.

      • Special Delivery January 24, 2015

7/11 stayed in the top 20 after 2 months with no promo. It charted highter tha Flop it Up. Less radio play. Try again.

      • Mark111 January 24, 2015

Ha! You bragging about a top 20? Stay and Diamond took a nap in the top ten for months. When the last time your queen did that? A decade ago?! Lol, and a video is promo hooker, thats the only reason 7/11 and Drunk In Love charted. #sit

    • SURPRISE…….(DEC.13) January 23, 2015

Yeah, good for Taylor!!!!!! However, her songs are very forgettable and childish>>> Do you agree Mark???

      • Mark111 January 24, 2015

Forgettable is subjective. People can say the same about Beyonce’s last two eras. People are not going to forget this hits, years from now when you play the 2010’s station, who you think are going to pop up? Pretty Hurts won’t for sure.

      • Sass January 24, 2015

Drunk In Love will nice try!

      • Mark111 January 24, 2015

Drunken H** is forgotten NOW. Nice try.

      • Sass January 24, 2015

‘Forgotten is subjective’ So are 90% of Rihanna singles and eras.

    • SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) January 24, 2015

Lmao @ the shade!! I don’t use Taylor at all but I gotta give it to her. A real queen can slay both charts simultaneously. 🙂

    • B**** please January 24, 2015

The same can be said about Rihanna’s whole existence.

    • Special Delivery January 24, 2015

And Birthday Cake is so quality right?

  5. TheElusiveLamb January 23, 2015

Congratulations to both ladies. It’s so great to see those numbers at this time

  6. Lake Erie January 23, 2015

Wow?! Hold up! Beyonce was suppose to sing that song?!? But she passed it up? Wow, if that’s true, then that would’ve been versatile as hell. I couldn’t imagine though.

  7. Paulo January 23, 2015

congrats Meghan! like your hit. might check the album on spotify then

  8. B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare January 23, 2015

Taylor is an undeniable beast. I don’t really mess with her like that but “Style” is not only the best song on “1989” but one of the best pop songs to come out in a very long time. No denying it. It makes “Shake It Off” and “Blank Space” sound ridiculous. “Style” DESERVES to be #1 on the BB100.

    Meghan…I don’t get it.

    • TRUTH SERUM January 23, 2015

I’m embarrassed to say it but I secretly love “shake it off”… It’s so infectious… taylor consistenly writes hits after hits. Runs out of post…

      • B**** I Can’t Even Spell Welfare January 23, 2015

LOL! That’s alright. Taylor has a way of worming her music into your brain. She’s a master pop writer like that. 😀

That’s what happened to me on ” I Knew You Were Trouble.”

  9. The Great Lacefronce. January 23, 2015

The song would’ve flopped if Thiefonce sang it just like most of her singles did from here album

  10. Slaylar Swift January 23, 2015

    Beyonce could never

    • Alex January 24, 2015

She already did with dangerously in love! Try again!

      • SLAYRIAH CAREY (TOUR DE FORCE) January 24, 2015

That awkward moment Yall always talk about others bringing up “ancient” receipts when Dangerously in Love was released over a decade ago. Lmao

      • Sass January 24, 2015

Why are stalking all Beyonce fans again all of a sudden? What happened to the ‘i love queen bey’ persona. Lmao. Weak child.

  11. Lax January 24, 2015

Stay bringing up Bey name. Can a b**** hit number one without her mentions. Get off that lady d***!

  12. Stephy Jackson January 24, 2015

    Taylor Better SLAY

  13. the voice January 24, 2015

Congrats to Nicki…. still in top 10

  14. truthtea January 24, 2015

Ugh Meghan and her collaborator wrote and composed AATB together and was the song that got her discovered by LA Reid. Never once was it intended for Beybonic. Check your facts idiots!

    • Sass January 24, 2015

Yes it was. Meghan said so herself.

  15. No Name January 24, 2015

Her next week album sales prediction is 50 – 55k. Almost 75% drop. By the way, Nicki is showing stabilty in sales.

    • FAF January 24, 2015

yes! 30k each week over a month later she will be gold next week she’s at over 440k US, close to 600k ww now

  16. Lobe January 24, 2015

Kudos to Taylor but I wouldn’t be surprised if her wealthy family is buying the albums. However, ‘1989’ is good a disc … “Style” and “Bad Blood” being notables. I wonder if this album will go 10X… Anyone willing to make a wager?

  17. Taylor swifts number 1 fan!! January 24, 2015

Yes!! Taylor has 2 songs in the top 5, both have been out for ages, and I think “style” can do the same. That was my instant favourite on 1989, when I first heard the album for the first time.

Album wise- at 2, even though it came out in October, which is it’s joint lowest position since it was released.

  18. Taylor swifts number 1 fan!! January 24, 2015

    WW sales: @taylorswift13, “1989” 163,000 (5,785,000 total).

So that means Taylor Swift has sold over1.7 million outside of the states so far.

  19. B**** please January 24, 2015

    Rihanna could never.

  20. JOHNVIDAL January 24, 2015

WOW at that Meghan girl! Who expected that? Only like 2% of artists are selling over 200k copies first week, it´s impressive in her case. I though it was going to be more like that case of Call me Maybe, a one hit wonder whose album was purchased by nobody. I thought this girl was cute but didn´t expect this. Do I have to check the album? 🙂
About Taylor: what´s wrong with America? Seriously! She is selling so above anybody else that it is like a Michael Jackson of the 10s, difference being she doesn´t deserve it. What´s wrong with you guys? There are so many artists who should be doing that, not Taylor. She´s so mediocre.

    • NO TREBLE January 24, 2015

Now you will pay attention because her album sold well? Have a seat.

      • JOHNVIDAL January 24, 2015

It was a question. I asked if there´s someone in this blog who can tell me if her music/album is good or something. Where´s the problem?

  21. @RealMattPhoenix January 24, 2015

Slaytor swifyt keeps winning and i’m glad. Her dancer were stupid to jump ship into basic perry’s canoe.
    |
I too never expected this meghan chick to pull these numbers but we’ll done.
    |
200k obese people in the usa

  22. Sass January 24, 2015

Thats impressive for Meghan. Most artists struggle to sell over 200k first week WITH all the #1s and exposure under the sun.

  23. Special Delivery January 24, 2015

    Congrats to all.

  24. G4L January 24, 2015

There’s money to be made from fat women as an audience.
    Only in the obese USA!

    • @RealMattPhoenix January 24, 2015

Lmao right! Meghans next music video is gonna be shot in mc donalds

      • @RealMattPhoenix January 24, 2015

Lol and the lead single will be “all about the chaff (no thigh gap)

      • G4L January 24, 2015

Imagine of Rihanna, Bey or any chick made a song attacking fat women. The outrage!

    • @RealMattPhoenix January 24, 2015

      Featuring demi Mc’Vato and Adel

  25. S****** Blonde January 24, 2015

Who’s that girl Meghan?, i don’t listen to radio, anyway, Taylor is loved by most americans, 4 million, that’s impressive, call me when Gaga, Katy and the rest of the girls can slay like this in their 3rd or 4th album, wow.

  26. Kendall January 24, 2015

I don’t like the way she calls girls ‘skinny bittches’ in her song. Its very contradictory. The song and video is praising being big but could have gone about it without condemning skinny girls in the process.

  27. Rosie January 24, 2015

Oh wow, but Bjork might not even pass 20K first week. The U.S. and their taste<<<
At least Style is flying up the charts. I wonder if the single after this will be Bad Blood or Wildest Dreams.

  28. Rosie January 24, 2015

And death at Title only selling 244K worldwide. What kind of Pinkprint localness (except even more tragic because Meghan’s album is straight up pop).

    • NO TREBLE January 24, 2015

The real kii will be when Meg outsells that drunken botoxed s*** in your avi. Now twirl on that.

      • Rosie January 24, 2015

Wow, I would expect her to do that with two top 5 singles and all that promo. The inability for you f*** to drag accurately kills me.
Still not as much promo as Onika had with the Pinkshit.

      • CherylSoldierr January 24, 2015

The KII is the 80% decline. The lanaholics couldn’t purchase their faves bargain bin flop? Book any tv performance before you come for others. And continue CLINGING to taylor kiiiiii

    • CATFISH CAREY January 24, 2015

IT HASNT BEEN RELEASED IN THE UK YET NOT SURE ABOUT OTHER COUNTRIES

  29. Charlieyoncé January 24, 2015

“Beyoncé could never”? B**** Beyoncé has FOUR multi-platinum albums. Dangerously in Love is on the brink of clocking 5 million. And y’all whores will DEAL.

  30. Tea honey January 24, 2015

Beyonce could never and the world agrees honey if she was this king she could sell albums but she’s stuck at 3M after over a year THE DELUSION is REAL

  31. B2B January 24, 2015

First congratulations to Meghan and Taylor for slaying their lanes respectively. Secondly, why is it that stans try to downplay the success of the album BEYONCÉ? None of Bey’s contemporaries could even release an album by the surprise! Just remember… Beyoncé went double platinum with a #1, without attention seeking interviews, & without discounts. Bey promoted herself by going on Blockbuster tours and collecting them checks!

  32. B2B January 24, 2015

Question… Out of the Pop girls of the 00s, who has the most multi-platinum albums?? I know Beyoncé has 4/5… What about Rih, Ci, Katy & Gaga…? Oh yeah Christina & Aaliyah as well.

    • S****** Blonde January 24, 2015

If you are putting Xtina there then BRITNEY SPEARS is the answer to your question.

      • Danny Bey January 24, 2015

Last time I checked, Britney’s last 4 albums couldn’t even scan 1 million (with the exception of Circus, barely)…. Sooooo, what were you saying??

    • blue January 24, 2015

he wont put britney there because the questin was formed to make beyonce look good.

    • Mark111 January 24, 2015

Aaliyah passed in 01, so that’s just disrespectful. Britney had two diamond albums, so that alone tells you who had the most.

      • B2B January 24, 2015

But Brittany has 4 from 2000s to now and I didn’t mention her because she honestly didn’t come to mind. But since you brought her up… She, like Beyoncé, has four multi-platinum albums.

  33. @RealMattPhoenix January 24, 2015

    S

  34. Casual-T January 24, 2015

I did not know Beyonce passed on All About That Bass. Just a hunch — Beyonce figured the song was a hit, but felt the song was wrong for her at this point in her career.

  35. Sandra January 26, 2015

Did Meghan really sell 238,000 or is that with streaming and tracks included? With this new Billboard 200 formula it’s impossible to take the Billboard 200 chart seriously when it’s not based on pure sales anymore. At least they still have a pure sales chart with Top Album Sales chart. Unfortunately Billboard 200 is a joke now, when albums that sell nothing but have high streaming/ many people buy the singles chart higher than albums that SELL more but have less streaming/single sales.

  36. Sandra January 26, 2015

I just looked it up, and Meghan Trainors album only sold 196,000 copies. She did not sell 238,000 that is just including streaming and single sales. Outside of the US she only managed to sell 48,000 copies, she’s not really a big worldwide force is she. But congrats Meghan. And Congrats Taylor Swift for your huge album sales (she does not need to inflate her numbers by adding streaming/singles. Taylors album sales are real SALES).
