Justice has finally been served in the case of George Floyd.

A jury took just 10 hours to deem former police officer Derek Chauvin guilty of murdering the unarmed Black man during an arrest on May 25 2020.

In a clip seen around the world, Chauvin visibly knelled on Floyd’s neck for more than 9 minutes as onlookers watched in shock – many of whom joined Floyd in articulating that he couldn’t breathe.

With millions worldwide praising the decision, so too are a number of notable celebrities – including Beyonce, Cardi B, and Mariah Carey.

No stranger to seeing the words “first” and “only” associated with many of his stats, making Billboard history is far from an uncommon occurrence for Pop pinup Justin Bieber.

And while most of his accomplishments (big and small) are trumpeted by his beloved fan base, affectionately called #Beliebers, there’s a chance this quietly set record may have slipped past them.

All roads lead to February 7 for The Weeknd, who will be headlining the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show 2021.

The coveted spot is often billed as an immortalizing platform for Pop’s biggest names, with Abel following the likes of Michael Jackson, Madonna, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and Prince on the list of mega-stars who’ve blazed the iconic stage.

Given the current global climate, few are able to predict what the ‘Blinding Lights’ singer has in store for viewers of the spectacle – which takes place from the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

Indeed, it’s not yet known if his performance will be live (fully, partially, or at all), whether any guests will join him, or if it’ll even take in the same format as traditional Halftime showings.

Pending an answer, he’s teasing the show by way of a brand new Pepsi commercial. Check it out below…

In August 2019, Taylor Swift earned her 44th top 20 hit when the title track from her seventh studio album, ‘Lover,’ was lifted to #19 on the Billboard Hot 100 (as we reported here).

Tying Queen of Pop Madonna‘s longstanding record for most top 20 hits among women at the time, Swift snatched the title from Madge the next year when ‘Cardigan’ – the lead single from her eighth studio album ‘Folklore’debuted at #1 on the Hot 100 and later led other of the album’s cuts, ‘Exile,’ ‘The 1,’ ‘The Last Great American Dynasty’ and ‘My Tears Ricochet,’ into top 20 terrain as well.

Now, thanks to newly charted music found aboard her ninth studio album, ‘Evermore,’ Taylor looks poised to hold on to the title forevermore as she’s added even more songs from her prized discography to the distinct honor.

Dua Lipa‘s sophomore album, the March 2020-released ‘Future Nostalgia,’ is arguably the year’s most aggressively promoted project – especially on the global front.

Kicked off by the Hot 100 smash hit, ‘Don’t Start Now’ (which peaked at #2), the LP saw that tune and follow-ups ‘Break My Heart,’ ‘Levitating,’ and ‘Physical’ showcased on multiple late nite TV platforms as well as major award shows and TV specials around the world throughout the year.  To add, the opus was even repackaged via a star-studded deluxe edition highlighted with appearances from Queen of Pop Madonna, Missy Elliott, Gwen Stefani, and more.

The promo pushes not only helped those songs find impressive placements all across the Hot 100, but also kept their parent album buoyant in the Billboard 200’s highest quadrant even 36 weeks after its release.

That ongoing success was rewarded by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) last week.

The Super Bowl Halftime Show is known as the biggest spectacle on Earth and for good reason given the 100 million+ eyes that are annually glued to TV screens in its anticipation.

Compounded with the opportunity to be etched in history is the highly coveted slot’s boosts in its performers’ sales, streams, recognition, and – for some – accolades (see: Emmy nominations).

Amid ongoing criticism of the NFL’s response to complaints of its treatment of players of color (as well as slow response to the issue of racial injustice at large), the league’s tapped Jesse Collins – courtesy of Roc Nation – to serve as the extravaganza’s first African American executive producer.

With the spotlight brighter than ever for Collins and the show to deliver next year, who among today’s crop of top acts is deserving to become immortalized by joining an exclusive list that includes the likes of Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, & more?

Despite salute from fans and critics alike for being a standout cut from her sophomore album, ‘Future Nostalgia,’ Brit-born beauty Dua Lipa‘s song ‘Levitating’ has yet to live up to its moniker on the Hot 100.

Although blessed with a remix that featured Blessed Madonna alongside Rap royal Missy Elliott and Queen of Pop Madonna (found aboard the LP’s deluxe edition ‘Club Future Nostalgia’), the tune’s still failed to crack the hit-list – a surprising fate given the success of its predecessors ‘Physical,’ ‘Break My Heart,’ and the top 5 hit, ‘Don’t Start Now’ (as we reported here).

In an effort to turn the tide on ‘Levitating,’ Lipa’s enlisted serial hitmaker DaBaby for a new remix.  Will his inclusion be just the trick to rev up consumer interest?
