Brandy Performs ‘Long Distance’ On Today Show

Published: Tuesday 6th Jan 2009 by Sam

Despite the lukewarm sales of her criminally slept on LP ‘Human’, Brandy is pressing ahead promoting the record’s 2nd single ‘Long Distance’ – most recently stopping by The Today Show to perform the track. If there is one thing I have to hand it to the former ‘Moesha’ star this go around it’s her consistency. Performance after performance, she just nails it. Vocals are as crisp as the CD. Here’s hoping that in some way, ‘Human’ gets the chance to be heard by the masses. It’s too good a project to go unnoticed.

What do you think of the performance?

Bran’s the realist female artist in the industry….if u dont have the album u need it…its worth every penny..there’s not too many cds u can put in and listen frm start to finish…THIS ONE’S IT!!

Not too many people can go thru a lot in live and bounce back like she did.”Human” in her best work to date..thats what i think

Yeah “Human” is a great LP…Not to hate or put down other artist but Brandy has really grown with her age. Human is by far one of if not thee best LP since Alicia Keys “I Am” (Let the sells speak for them selves *wink*). If you like poppy dance songs with no concept..Stick to Rihanna..etc…If you like songs with meaning behind them as well as depth and things that happen in real life….Go get HUMAN ! !

Apparently all these great live performances have been pre-recorded…
Have y’all seen the performance where she forgets to come back to the mic – yet the vocals are still clear as day??

Yes, she is a good performer. Vocals are strong as well. I hope her albums picks up because I really like it.

It is a good song, I really think the beat should have picked up after the first verse though.

I don't think u can call an album thts been out for 1 month "Criminally underrted" yet either. I've yet to hear it, but will.

Ashanti's 'The Declaration,' was another slept on album that was a listener from start to finish too!!

I really enjoyed Brandy's 2004 effort 'Afrodisiac.' I think if songs like "Say You Will," & "I Tried," were released as singles rather than "Who Is She 2 U" that it could have been a bigger album. And "Who I Am," would have made a killer intro into a song for it's video!!

Really did like some of the music off of that album!

even though Brandy isn’t selling well, she will keep pushing on for her fans. Real talent it slept on a lot now of days, (although certain artist are still keeping it alive) that’s just how the industry is now. Hopefully the sales will pick up, if not shes done her best and will continue to please her fans. That is what matters.

grown folks music is slept on these days because of wack ass kiddie artists clogging up the radio…if its not on 106 & park or talks about putting a ring on it or something, people don't want to give it a chance…if you're sick of how horrible mainstream music is, give bran a chance…her cd is thoughtful, intelligent, and very moving…as long as she continues to release music, i'm buying

I love Brandy hell I still play her very first album and her performances are excellent and her vocals are flawless BUT I have to admit that from the singles and the little bit I heard I bypassed Human… I really wanted to support Brandy but from what I heard thus far… I just wasn’t doing it for me…I do wish her all best cause she damn sure deserve it!

It is an amazing album. It makes you feel and there aren't many albums like that out there anymore. I'm telling you 09 marks the return of the R&B Divas. Brandy kicked it off. Soon we'll have Monica (I can't wait) and then Kelly Rowland (another one I'm excited about) and many more I'm sure. If you visit this blog and you have not purchassed Brandy's album. GO GET IT! You wont regret it.

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BRANDY’S OPRAH APPEARANCE? IF SHE WOULD HAVE WENT ON THERE AND PERFORMED HER TWO SINGLES AND TELL SOME SAD ASS STORY SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN PLAT BY NOW.

I bought two copies of this album–one for myself and another for a friend. It is really well-executed and her voice has matured so much without losing even an ounce of fullness; her live performances are evidence to that statement. Furthermore, the album is incredibly atypical; instead of the usual themes of partying, lovemaking, and relationship drama that most of the albums out there are expressing, “Human” really grasps subject matters that are serious, relevant, and yes–human. It really is a shame that it is not performing nearly as well as other albums out there.

Sam I agree with you..I really don’t want this album to go to waste..I hope she keeps pushing.I heard they plan on releasing, Piano Man, as the third single.I hope it is true because I think this will do something for her

I've been a Brandy fan since day one. I have all of her albums and this one is the most mature and heartfelt one of all. And as someone stated yes it's sad and it upsets me that someone can make a great album and it not do well. Beyonce's CD is hyped up trash and I said it. Brandy as well as others aren't getting their due and it's wrong. But for those who enjoy "Real" R&B and music that lifts you up and makes you feel good go and buy "Human" it's worth every dollar.
